I also wanted to point out something you may have noticed: ADS. Yes, they are dreaded. In our case, we hope they will be helpful! With any of the ads that we have decided to present on the site, the moneys raised will be used as a contribution to fund our honeymoon. Please feel free to click away! It is much appreciated.

Mike & I have started a “Map and Activities” page HERE. We have begun to add locations of activites in and around the area of Fort Myers Beach. If anyone has any suggestion or requests, please either comment on this post or e-mail us at gailmikewedding@gmail.com .

I cam across a very cool site called Olapic for collecting everyone’s photos from the wedding. I will be posting my own here as well, once wedding events start occurring. For the time being, if you have any interesting photos you would like to share, check out the site: Gail & Mike’s Wedding Photos and feel free to add any.

Or should I say “officiate the wedding”? We’re thinking we would like a friend or family member to do the honors for us. And I even found a website where you may be ordained for free: American Marriage Ministries. My application is almost complete…I wonder if I could officiate my own wedding?

I’m not really one to follow rules I guess… People keep saying THIS MAY! I say, yes, we can do it!! Even though most people give themselves a year.
This week we found some invites, so those will have to be finalized and sent by early in the week. This weekend we hope to have the groom and his guys’ suits picked out. Yes, there will still be a ton to do. Next big hurdles: photographer and music/DJ. Once those are booked, it’ll be a piece of cake!
Oh, that reminds me, we have to pick that out, too…

Yay! Big announcement!
Details have been finalized:
Friday, May 14th at the DiamondHead Beach Resort on Fort Myers Beach, FL.
We are very excited! To see more about the locale, here is the website: DiamondHead Beach Resort. (Please disregard the gold taffeta bows on the chairs in the featured reception photos. We will NOT have that.)

Wedding favors? Whose idea were these anyway? A trinket to take home that will inevitably sit in a drawer somewhere…. I guess to me they just seem like an idea that a marketer came up with. I mean, really, as I look at The Knot and the like, some of these things are $5 a piece! Times 100 guests… Well, it just adds more to the bottom line. Plus, to me, the welcome bag in the guests’ rooms seems like a nicer idea. Here, one could include local activities and little items that would make their stay that bit nicer. Mike and I attended his cousin’s wedding in Arizona in September of 2008. When we arrived at the hotel, our hosts had left a nice bag with an itinerary of sorts. Even better, they included a scarf-like thing that you soak in water. This proved very useful, as we are not used to the dry heat of Arizona. In fact, we still use this if it’s really hot in Florida. Hence, my search commences for (inexpensive) “favors”. We’ll see what I find!

If you actually know Mike or me, you may have noticed on the contact area that our e-mail address is gailmikewedding@gmail.com. I did this for one very simple reason: SPAM. And boy, am I ever glad! After all, signing up for registries, The Knot, and the bridal shows can only mean one thing: endless marketing. And in our modern age, endless marketing equals e-mail. And lots of it!! I am sad to say that I don’t check this e-mail address every day, but when I do, I am treated to a plethera of ideas and lists promising the perfect wedding, reception, music, dress, china…you get the drift. It just reminds me how much the focus is NOT on the most important part of the wedding–the bride and groom and their love for each other. I will reiterate my thoughts: We don’t want a $100k wedding, we just want something nice. And by nice, I mean a celebration to bring our friends and families together to have a great time!!

Can you believe it? A groom posted to Twitter from the altar, during the ceremony?
I guess I can believe it, but in our case, it would probably be me, not the groom!
